Wera and Radical Motorsport Offer A Factory Drive To One Lucky Karting Star

Wera Tools UK has teamed up with Radical Motorsport, one of the world's most successful racing car manufacturers,to launch an exciting initiative that will provide a young karter from the Wera Tools British Karting Championships (BKC) an unparalleled opportunity: a fully-sponsored season in the 2025 Radical Cup UK.

This collaboration is designed to foster the next generation of motorsport talent by offering a promising karter a chance to step up to the world of sports car racing. The selected driver will benefit from a complete season of racing in the Radical Cup UK, where they will compete in the latest Radical SR3 XXR supported by the Radical factory Works Team, under the banner of the “Radical Racing Rebels”. They will also secure a place in the coveted Wera Alliance Racing Academy programme for 2025.  A second Radical SR3 XXR will be made available for another karting graduate to join the team at a heavily reduced season price.

Formed in Germany in 1936, the Wera Tools brand is rebellious and inventive, with a range of tools that continually challenge the standard. Wera are the “tool Rebels” and the company values of honesty, passion and enthusiasm aligns well with the action-packed racing and aspirational ethos of both the British Karting Championship and the Radical Cup UK.

The Wera Tools BKC is home to fast emerging talent, with the best kart drivers in Britain regularly fighting it out for the number one plate. The BKC is also the perfect stepping-stone for international competition or other racing disciplines, with the likes of British F1 drivers Lewis Hamilton, Lando Norris, George Russell, Alex Albon and Ollie Bearman all cutting their teeth at British national level karting.

The Radical Racing Rebels provides a unique opportunity to follow in the footsteps of previous karting graduates such as Daryl DeLeon, who started car racing with Radical, went on to become both UK champion and win the inaugural 2022 Radical World Finals in Las Vegas before being offered a seat in the British Touring Car Championships. Similarly, last season’s Radical Cup UK champion, Theo Micouris, also went through the British Karting ranks and is another graduate of the successful Motorsport UK Academy programme, Micouris is now racing LMP4 across Europe with team-mate and 2023 Radical World Champion, Haydn Chance.

Nicole van der Walt, Motorsport Manager at Radical Motorsport, expressed her enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating, “We are committed to nurturing the future stars of motorsport, and this partnership with Wera Tools UK aligns perfectly with our mission. The Radical Cup UK has always been a breeding ground for talented drivers, and we’re excited to provide this incredible opportunity to a deserving young karter.”

Martin Fallon, Marketing Manager of Wera Tools UK, echoed this sentiment: “At Wera, we believe the tools can always be developed further and our innovative approach has led to many industry-leading products. We see these same qualities in the rising stars of British motorsport. By partnering with Radical Motorsport, we are not only supporting the development of young talent but also highlighting the importance of high-performance tools in achieving success on and off the track.”

The selection process for the lucky karter will be rigorous, with candidates being evaluated on their performance, potential, and dedication to the sport. The winner will be announced following a two-day assessment programme at Radical’s Donington Park HQ in October.

Interested candidates can find out more at radicalcup.uk, and will also have the chance to meet the Radical team and get up close with the new Radical SR3 XXR at the final rounds of this year’s Wera Tools British Kart Championships, 6-8 September at Whilton Mill, and 27-29 September at Three Sisters.

The initiative underscores both Radical Motorsport and Wera Tools UK’s commitment to supporting the UK’s motorsport community. By offering this unique pathway, the collaboration aims to inspire and encourage the next generation of racing drivers to pursue their dreams.
